Lots of variety: Chinese food, pizza, sushi, plantains. I'd come back here for sure. Good prices too

I've been coming here about 3 years, I quit dining here a few months ago because the quality of food had declined. Decided to give it one more try today. Food was fresh and replenished often, air conditioning working, pleasant atmosphere, clean. Takes a while to get a refill. Ordered iced tea was brought hot jasmine tea in a teapot with a glass of ice, after several attempts to explain finally received brewed ice tea.. All said, this place is a bargain for lunch.

I'veebb been here ebb twice. First time there I thought it was edible, but being the person that I am i figured i give them a second chance, and what do you know, its still just edible. Nithing fancy to write about and no recommendation on what to order, its just ok.

You get what you pay for...literally. It's cheap for a reason. The warmers need to be fixed because they're not keeping the food hot, warm to say the least. Need to work on customer service and need to do their job by going around and checking if the customers need drinks. I had to go 3 times behind the wall to get my husband and I a refill and during that time we never saw our waitress. When we were finishing up is when we saw her most. Food needs more spice/flavor and better customer service end of story.

My second time to this place. I wanted to give it another shot, when you first walked in there's a odd weird smell. The food doesn't have any flavor. It's missing something. They don't really have a big selection of food. The sushi is something else, it's hot when grab it from the buffet area. I wish they could make it when you want it. The food isn't hot, it's cold (medium). The decor is nice around. The carpet was really dirty along with the restroom. The workers don't speak English.

My wife and I had lunch here at noon. There were only a very few people which I get was a shame because the food were fresh, they were great and the service was great as well. They picked up the used plates quite frequently. The price is also great. Like in most buffet restaurants, I believe if you go during their peak times, the food is much fresher. I recommend this place during peak times. I say this because when we came here a couple times during off peak, the food was not as that good. We were not happy. Each time we come during peak times, everything is great!

Save your money and go to Panda Express. From the moment my family and I walked in the door, it was a horrible experience. First the hostess (if she deserves that title) had the nerve to question my 2 year olds age, insisting that he was over 3. I felt like bringing in his birth certificate to rub it in her face. The food was bland. And the customer service was terrible. Yes they have free refills, but it took 30 minutes to get them. Oh, and I could have sworn it is illegal to serve shark fin soup. The only good thing about this place was the almond cookies for dessert.

This is exactly what it advertises itself as: $4.99 AYCE generic Chinese. It is a bit lower to or equal to (in quality) to Panda Express. Would I come here for dinner? Heeeelllllll noooooo... ...but for chinese fast food...yah...it's fresher than most non-AYCE chinese. We have all gone to Panda Express at one point where you can obviously tell it was sitting out there for a while. Thanks to the senior citizen lunch crowd you don't get that problem here. They are constantly grazing at the food so it has a good turnover rate in terms of freshness. So if your in the area and craving cheap greasy chinese fast food, pull your belly up and drop $5. Afterwards walk across the street to Greenthumb or go antiquing down the block of downtown Canoga Park. Heck if your feeling a good walk go to the Topanga Westfield and walk a couple laps around there to stave off the greasy grim reaper following you.

Hey it's a buffet. What can you expect. It's cheap, all-you-can-eat and not any different from other Chinese buffets. If ever I go, I do it on the weekends when they serve crab legs. Otherwise, it's a place to stuff my belly and have somewhat of a variety for under 10 bucks. Do you want first-class dishes at a $4.99 buffet? Really? I want world peace.

  • Katy H.

The prices are real cheap, *hints* the food won't be top quality. But when it comes to satisfying your budget and hunger, yeah, it'll do. The service isn't good either need a beverage ,be prepared to sip it slowly. The reason being the servers show up until way later, when your dying of thirst lol. One thing I will not leave out is the restroom, not appealing what so ever, it's very disgusting, there is always toilet paper every where and not clean I try not using the restrooms when I'm there, but when you gotta go you gotta go. I will compare this place to taco bell if taco bell, because when ya broke no one complains about taco bell.

The worst buffet ever. Not a hot dish that isn't greasy. Zero flavor in everything. Very bad service. Bad parking.

What?! People are so hard to please these days. Stop being a diva. Look this is definitely a several steps above Panda Express. Panda for me is the lowest tier Chinese food and China buffet tops it off any day. You have Mongolian, a salad bar, dessert bar, soups, appetizers and the main entrées. The lobby and food trays were really clean and the food was delicious! I guess the perception of value comes into place when people see it's "cheap" ..cheap doesn't necessarily mean low quality! Put a blind fold over these people's eyes and they won't notice anything. I know they say "you get what you pay for"...but for this restaurant it exceeded my expectations. For the price, it's worth my while. Stop looking at the price tag and if it helps, eat blind folded!

  • Aprille C.

A group of us went for lunch. The food was fabulous! Sometimes buffets have stale food sitting out. But everything here was fresh and yummy. The sushi was good, the potstickers yummy. There was Chinese food, lots of shellfish, even salad, fruit, soft serve ice cream, and much more. $16.00 all you can eat with a drink. Yum!

  • James G.

The prices weren't bad and the selection was large-ish, but everything was pretty mediocre, even by buffet standards. It was okay, but I won't come again.

  • Geneva S.

Stopped in for lunch last week & they had a good variety of food. They also have a create your own low mein bar. Would go again. Only con is the server hardly comes around to refill your drinks.

Let's start with first impressions, walking in, the restaurant is large, clean and decor is simple. There isn't a vast selection of food but decent. I only went for staples like mushrooms, kung pao chicken, green beans, garlic shrimp, etc. I sampled just a little to taste and it was all good. Now, this isn't Pick Up Stix or P.F Chang's but it's good food that'll fill you up for lunch or dinner on those nights you just don't feel like cooking. The price is dirty cheap, both my husband and i had lunch for $21. That price included drinks and dessert. Great bargain if you ask me. If you're looking for chinese cuisine, you're not going to find it here for $10 a person. When you want fine dining, you Don't drive thru McDs and order of the dollar menu. The staff was nice and kept our drinks full and table clean. It works, for what it is, cheap Chinese food...and it's all you can eat!!!

I am convinced that there is a secret warehouse where you can buy "Asian Buffet Chow" in bulk. You buy the starter kit, then get refills. Because no matter where the buffet is, it has the same things. Including the dry tasteless baked goods, and the whole bananas in bright red sauce that look like they've been murdered. To save the day, we went across the street and visited the birds at Canoga Discount Birds.

  • Anna K. S.

I can't give this place any less than 2.5 so I'm rounding up to 3 stars because for whatever reason, we keep coming back. Perhaps it's the price. We look at it like fast food. Panda Express and any other fast food Chinese place costs more than this place for lunch, and you get a buffet selection here vs a combo at any Panda type place. The food is good if you're selective. Seriously, this is not gourmet so lower your expectations if you are comparing this to other Chinese sit down restaurants. $4.99 for lunch? You can't beat that with a stick, even if you just have soup and dessert. I am a Chinatown/Monterey Park restaurant fan. But I don't mind eating here if just for a few simple things like hot n sour soup, vegetables, coconut chicken, jalapeño chicken, potstickers, pork chops and bbq chicken, not all available at the same time though. Lunch. I'm talking lunch. Dinner at $8.99 is debatable.

  • Ed C.

Don't come here toward the end of day. After 7:00 PM. Most empty trays never get refilled! I waited more than 20 minutes. Price is cheap, & that's all you will get -- empty stomach because you will end up starting at empty trays...

    (2)
  • Jessie S.

The most depressing buffet spot. It's so cheap cause you get what you pay for. Cold food, and empty trays.

    (1)
  • Amanda H.

I'm going to start by saying, you pay for what you eat! I paid for a $4.99 special, and I got a little bit less than $4.99 worth of quality of food. I would be better off to go to panda express and get a one entrée platter to go. Because their quality of food is better. And panda express's service is better too. I am not a fan of China buffet. And I will never be cheap like this again.

  • Samurai A.

I didnt listen to the previous reviews here.. the food here had no taste at all. They're right, panda express is better taste than this restaurant. I wasted my $12.99 saturday lunch here. Its so bland and no taste at all. I thought its on $10.99 but when i got there it said $12.99. Not worth it... Shrimp had no taste, they just put a little salt, and pepperflakes to get spicy but no taste at all. Dont waste you money coming here, its all crappy food!!!

I was really looking forward to going today because the last time I went they had things like sushi, and grand variety seafood. I went on a weekday . This time when I went NOTHING ! No sushi not even clams. I asked to see what was going on, and the person said that they only have that on weekends-- which is ridiculous because I went there on a weekday last time . Not even worth 9 bucks more like 3 dollar value .

Great buffet. Good selection with some standout items. Both the coconut chicken and chicken skewers were excellent.

Amid mixed reviews, I was skeptical. I'm now through two plates of food and everything has been good. For the $5 Monday through Friday lunch special, they are serving fresh, tasty food. Yes sushi is missing on weekdays. Nevertheless you get a Mongolian stir fry station for those who are into that (vegetables plus some shaved ham or beef). Seaweed! It's getting hard to find. The fresh cucumbers and onions, hard boiled eggs and imitation crab salad were all good. The shrimp, squid and veggie stir fry was wonderful - vegetables just right, crunchy buy not raw. Worth a second helping. The miso soup was a little thin. Heresy I know, but a little salt and black pepper perked it up. Again worth seconds. The soup is served in big cups with handles. Suggest you take half cups to try it. Your second half cup will then be hot. I tried both the coconut and orange chicken for the kids. They'll love the coconut chicken made from white meat. The orange chicken is made from dark meat and is tougher. It's a more adult taste. The fried chicken is good, and the barbecue chicken is very good. (Barbecue is the cooking method. It doesn't have sweet American BBQ sauce, which is for me an acquired taste anyway.) The Lo Mien noodles (with plenty of greens, as I like them) were good and very mild - cooked without salt. People on a low-sodium diet will be able to eat here, which is unusual for Chinese buffets. The Mongolian beef was also very mild, free of much salt and spice. It may be the flagship dish for this buffet's signature: they don't throw hot chili pepper into everything to keep you from taking too much. Here you can actually taste the mild flavors of the meat and vegetables. For the guy who came with his daughter and couldn't find anything appetizing, I think he brought the wrong girl. I love my granddaughter. I also know she's not an adventurous diner. She's from Agoura Hills, where the idea of a girls' lunch out steers toward P F Chang's. This is a five-buck lunch in Canoga Park. Within category (low and mid-price buffets), I'm giving it four stars. There is a huge desert bar. I'm going to go try it out, and post this review so you can use it in deciding if you want to take a drive to Canoga Park. There is an $8 dinner special Monday through Thursday (in July 2014). At the full $11 weekend dinner price, though, I think this place could still hold its own.

Food is good for the price. The coconut chicken is the best!! .. The chow main has no taste , I don't recommend the chow main. Everything else is good .try out your self!

  • Chris C.

Was denied the lunch price after being one minute late, so I ordered to go. Now that I think of it ,I was better off not settling for the buffet. Let's put it this way. You get what you pay for. Therefore, I left happy, and I'll be back considering that it is next door.

When I walked in all I can smell is wet dog. The food taste somewhat okay. I was surprised that the chicken was actually chicken. Overall I will never come here again. Thou the water was very tasty and filtered.

  • Beverly S.

Thursday night, great price! $7.99 Honestly, the food was good! There were a lot of selections. The only negative I have is that the turnaround on the buffet was a little slow. Overall, I'm leaving full and happy. That is why we go to Chinese buffets right?!

    (4)
  • Maribeth B.

Been going here but the bad service never changes.we had to wait for someone to refill our drinks , that supposedly the waiters do that automatically! Well as soon as i got hold of one of the servers and ask for water , he told me to wait.then he never came back to us, saw him cleaning up again another table and was ignoring us. To make it short he never came back to refill our glasses.what a shame! Maybe they will rush to you if u start choking!! Got our refill drinks after 20mins!

  • Hidi P.

Not very tasty or much of a variety for what they have. The price is way to much for what they serve. I tried it twice and I still left not feeling satisfied with the grade of food.

    (2)
  • Albert A.

I was cautious of coming in here. They will never win an award from architectural digest. The outside doesn't have much appeal either. It had some decent reviews so I tried it. Pleasantly surprised. Most of the food is just average or below average even, but the variety. They have salad and lots of veggies. Plantains and delicious pot stickers and hard boiled eggs. I love eggs so having hard boiled eggs was great. Loved the plantains too. I will come back.

  • Rick L.

Good food. A wide variety. I had the jalapeño chicken, odd but good mix of Chinese and Mexican. Spicy. Orange chicken was very good. I like the sauce so this allows me to scoop up a spoon's worth and pour it over the rice. Mmmmm. Waitress came by and cleared my dishes frequently and asked if I wanted a refill every time she came by. The down side is parking. They have a sign saying Parking but you have to do battle with the Parking Attendant. I suggest parking in the free city parking lot 1/2 block north on Jordan. And to their credit, they gave me the Senior Discount before I had a chance to ask.

  • Justin H.

I came in for lunch. I was drawn in by the AYCE $7.99 deal they have going on. Walking in, I surprised to see the place looks clean and well kept. Mind you, for $7.99, I was expecting the interior to look simply ghetto... But to my surprise the place looks clean and nicer. The food is just like most buffets I've been too... Osaka seafood buffet comes to mind as a comparable Asian styled Buffet. Osaka seafood buffet has a week day special for $10 for lunch... But honestly, out of the two, for price range, I like China Buffet more because both places have just mediocre food to begin with just like every buffet out there, but China buffet is at least $2 less.

    (3)
  • Jojo P.

You can't complain much for decent food at an incredible value. A lunch buffet (doesn't include soft drinks) for just $6.99? A three item combo at Panda would probably cost you more! For about seven bucks, you get all you can eat Chinese - most dishes use chicken as the main source of protein (coconut chicken, kung pao chicken, etc.). They also have a Mongolian BBQ cooking station if you are into that. Plus you get dessert options (fresh fruits, surprisingly tasty egg tarts, and your typical buffet yogurt. Again, this place is an unbelievable value! Street parking is available along Jordan and Sherman Way - plus there are public lots behind the storefronts. Overall, a nice addition to Downtown Canoga Park.

  • Sami S.

I've got no issue with this place. The waitresses are friendly, the food is decent; and the price is unbeatable. What more can u ask for? I'm a simple man.

    (5)
  • Jill F.

Okay either my expectations of food are so low that I like this place or ya'll are trippen. I mean it's not the best in town, but for $8-$11, hell yeah it's a good deal. The food's pretty good and I always find ice cream machines delicious at buffets. They have the usual foods that you'd see at a buffet: Mongolian, fries, sushi, egg drop soup, etc. But I mean if you're one of those snotty people who are like "omg i can make this shit at home, it tastes so bad", stay home.

    (4)
  • Frank C.

The service was great, but that was the only thing that was good. The food tasted a little off and most of the selections were a little cold. The soda was also flat.

    (2)
  • Troy S.

No flavor all food tast the same. Chinese food should have flavor. They never brought out fresh food

    (2)
  • Harriet B.

I love this place especially for lunch which is only $4.99! I'm a vegetarian so I fill up on the eggplant and tofu which is as good as, if not better than, anywhere else I've had it. They don't serve it for dinner which is why I only go at lunch time. I've also never seen sweet potatoes as large as they serve.

    (5)
  • Ashley G.

At 4.99 for lunch you can't really complain. Food is fare but I really love the Mongolian probably my favorite part! I read people's comments and I can't help but think to myself they can go to a McDonald's down the street for a crap meal or pay 4.99 for all you can eat. You get what you pay for people, if you want gourmet go elsewhere.

    (4)
  • Paula G.

Was ok for the price. Had wonton soup..fried rice...noodles...and some momgolian bbq. For a cheap fill up on food it satisfied. Very clean inside

  • Linda M.

If you like Chinese food this is a good place, I use to come here alot because there sushi and there cheap prices but I dont eat much chinese food so I wont be coming here no longer since sushi came off there menu :/ other than that there chinese food is good, they have alot of selections, tofu, pho soup station and its very bug. Great for 4.99

    (4)
  • Kevin H.

nasty food, nasty employees, and diarrhea after. Only go if your Chinese otherwise your waiter wont be able to communicate with you. Complete garbage ! i am embarrassed of going there!

  • Veronika D.

Whyyyyy why did my husband want to go back?! It was even worse than the first experience which was pretty bad. Service ignores you, no way of getting a refill on a beverage. We went at 8:20pm they close at 9:30, they stopped preparing fresh food already but we still paid the prime price of $10.99/head on a Friday night. It's no wonder this place is always empty- it sucks! Can't wait for the day they close and someone else puts a great Buffett in its place! I didn't finish anything, meat was chewy and old, even the cakes were stale from sitting out for hours. Most of the good was already empty, the choices available all tasted shitty. I was not happy we paid for that tummy ache. Never ever going back. Oh and watch out for animals in the back of the building, there is a whole family after dark hanging out feasting on thrown out clams.

I am only reviewing the $5 Monday through Friday lunch special buffet from 11am to 3:29pm. This is a great value for a pleasantly surprising Chinese and Mongolian stir fry buffet. I live in West Hills and drive by this restaurant quite a bit but never stopped by because of the bad reviews on Yelp. But my husband and teenage son love to eat a lot so I decided we should give it a try and it was very good. They even have seaweed salad, stuffed shrimp, Mongolian stir fry, yummy fish balls with bok choy and mushrooms, a salad bar filled with your choice of fresh fruits and vegetables and a few macaroni and noodle salads. They also had pizza, yams and corn on the cob along with fried chicken, barbecue chicken , good kung pao chicken, coconut chicken, also have four soup choices. plenty of vegetarian options to. I was there today December 30th and really enjoyed it. the desserts were good to. the restaurant was bright, clean, and they played new wave 80's and modern techno music, which I am personally very fond of. I would have to say that this is the best $5 asain food buffet I've had in as long as I can remember. The food was better than having an overpriced Panda Express lunch or a not so great lunch special at PF Changs. I am a huge fan of Chinese Thai and Japanese food and for five bucks this place cannot be beat for a buffet lunch. We will definitely be back. We left stuffed and Happy for less than 20$ including a tip for the server. There is no sushi and there is no real seafood except for the stuffed shrimp but for five dollars it beats the Zen buffet nearby in woodland hills because the desserts are really good and Zen buffets desserts are not good at all. The parking situation is fine there is street parking there's a huge parking lot in the back that for 50 cents you get an hour no problems. The place was packed, I didn't go here before because of the bad reviews but I don't understand how it has bad reviews for the lunch deal that they have which is what I am reviewing. My husband does not like Asian food but he was very happy and pleased so that will tell you something I would highly recommend it.

  • Tracy A.

My boyfriend and I basically come here for their mongolian grill other than that its okay. The prices are cheap so you can't really beat that if you're on the budget. They offer sushi like salmon and albacore nigri and variety of rolls, your typical chow mein, baked scallop, fries, soups, beef and broccoli, and so fourth. So if you're on the budget and aren't too picky when it comes to food quality than this place is okay.

    (3)
  • Jay S.

is it gourmet? no is it a great value? hell yes. OK, it's really basic Chinese food but it's $5 Monday through Friday for buffet lunch and they have variety with plenty of chicken dishes and 3 to 4 different soups. They have a small Mongolian BBQ as well. Go try to find this value anywhere in the Valley

Most disgusting china buffet ever!!! The food was soo bad I told them I'm not paying for this shit. Never eat here, you will not be happy!!!

You get what you pay for. At $5 its worth $5. Went back on Martin Luther King Jr birthday and they charged $12.95. Not worth it

This place sucks. PERIOD The food is nasty and no way in hell this guys have more then 50 verities of food, I got a flyer and my brother suggested lets give this place a try and it was really bad and my stomach was hurting after the meat, The plates are very small you have to go 2 3 times to get what you want. i would not recommend going here. Go to LA buffet in Northridge instead.

We celebrated my mom's birthday here. Here's a rundown of our experience: FOOD Standard Chinese buffet fare. Nothing fancy, but for the price, it's good. Everyone was satisfied. SERVICE Attentive without being intrusive. Our server Kelly was really fantastic. She re-filled our drinks and took away our used plates regularly. PRICE Cheap! I can't remember the exact price, but it was around $9 or $10 on the weekend, plus $1.69 for drinks. Senior discount for 65 and above. For kids, I think they charge $0.70 per each year old, or something super cheap. If you're paying that little, don't expect gourmet food! For that price, the food is great. PRIVATE PARTIES There is a private room. Seats 60. Since the restaurant is fairly new, we were able to stay in the room for almost 4 hours. The owner was very accommodating. I made a deposit to save our date. The deposit could then be applied to the final bill. For groups of 50 or more, they offer a 10% discount off the bill. Sweet! I believe you can either choose to 10% off or whatever individual senior/child discounts you might be entitled to. Not sure how long that deal will last, or if it is an introductory offer. CLEANLINESS I am pretty picky about this. The food stations, restrooms and dining area are pretty clean. PARKING This is a downside because they don't have their own lot. Metered parking on the street, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday except Sunday. Don't park in the lot directly behind the restaurant, as that belongs to the laundromat next door. There is, however, a metered lot behind that lot. That one is NOT free on Sundays. All in all, we enjoyed our meal. Love the fact that we had a private room and didn't feel rushed. Beats having to cook, clean and host at home.

For $10, the food is excellent! I don't understand what everyone is complaining about here. What do you expect for a $10 buffet. Yes, it doesn't have your lame California sushi or serve Starbucks. Its a true east-coast style buffet when good food. Its one of the few places that has unpeeled shrimp and won ton soup but you lame Cali lifers won't like it because it doesn't have your $200 sushi rolls. If you expect $200 sushi and 5 star food, go to your overpriced restaurants that fool you with frozen food. For those of you who think paying $6 at Starbucks for coffee which is made out of standard grade coffee beans, this is a good place to go for reasonable food at a reasonable price. The buffet is clean and the food selection is excellent. The restaurant is clean and the servers are friendly. I don't know why this place got so many bad reviews b/c its good! If you want a standard Chinese buffet for a decent price, come here. It is much cheaper than Zen and you get the same thing. Otherwise, if you are a spoiled Cali loser, go to your $80 a plate restaurants so you can eat your overpriced crap while they laugh at your lame jokes.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU COME DURING THE BUSY HOURS ON THE WEEKENDS (mainly dinner). If there are a lot of people dining in, drink refills may be a bit slow, but the food will be freshly made to accommodate the crowd. Weekends cost more than weekdays. They also have an area at the corner where you can pick and choose what meat and veggies you'll like the chef to stir fry for you. My boyfriend and I first experience was for dinner on a Thursday evening. The place looked very nice inside and spacious. The lady sat us near the window and I loved it. I thought that they would have more food variety, but they only had the usual stuff you would typically find at a Chinese buffet. I wasn't very impressed with the food, but I absolutely fell in love with their soft-shell crab dish! I ate a whole plate. This is way better than crab legs. FREE DRINK REFILLS! I had such a great time with my bf, even though the food wasn't up to my expectations. We decided to give it another try, since I WAS CRAVING SO BADLY FOR THE SOFT SHELL CRAB. We went again on a Friday evening and it was SO BUSY! Most of the food was extremely freshly made to accommodate the crowd. This time, ALMOST EVERYTHING I ATE WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. It was HOT and FRESH! Although it was a bit greasy, I tried to balance everything out with veggies too. The only thing I would complain about was that I asked this older employee lady for a drink refill, even after 10 minutes of waiting, SHE NEVER CAME BACK WITH MY REFILL. I finally ask a male employee about my drink and he got it for me fairly quickly. He felt bad about the situation and was nice about it. I think that each section of tables have their own servers, so I think that older lady had a different spot. BUT STILL, THAT WAS EXTREMELY "RUDE"!!!! THAT SHE NEVER CAME BACK TO SAY ANYTHING TO ME, EVEN AFTER PASSING BY MY TABLE AFTERWARDS. I would go again. JUST FOR THE SOFT SHELL CRAB and mini donuts. Not sure if I want to go for lunch though, but dinner, yes! =)

Pros: - Insanely low price - Mongolian BBQ! (main reason for above average score). I don't know why there wasn't a can of sesame seeds around. - Plenty of seating Cons: - This place has way too many offerings, so they're definitely suffering from a quantity over quality problem. Just the mongolian BBQ offering is a great value. I don't think anyone expects/craves french fries/pizza when they go to a "Chinese buffet" - Some presentation issues. While the restaurant is pretty well lit and there's abundant seating, there are some issues with clean countertops upon closer inspection. I didn't visit the restroom so I can't comment on it. - Pepsi drinks

Good food and cheap price. $7.99 for lunch is pretty good. They don't have their own parking spot, which is a bummer. However, they do pay for the metered parking for you. I like the place and the price is very reasonable.

Came in for dinner on a Monday night. There was no fresh oysters like it shows in the ad. No beer either. Mildly disappointed but nevertheless I enjoyed the Mongolian BBQ, hot sour soup, fries, and the pork dumplings. Surprisingly good and not that greasy. Clean place and friendly staff. Don't forget to tip your Mongolian chef!

Here I am this morning with swollen neck glands writing this review. I was at Green Thumb nursery next door late afternoon. As I left I saw new restaurant sign so decided to check it out. I asked one of the cute young girls at the front desk if they use MSG in their foods, she didn't think so, but asked the cashier "We don't use MSG, do we?" The other girl said "no". But I was weary at that point. I decided to see if they have a TO GO option, they do, so I picked up some shrimp, langostino lobster, mushrooms and prawns. Needless to say my allergy to MSG kicked in from the small portion. I hate to think how I'd be feeling if I had a whole meal here! I'm giving the place 2 stars. The place is very clean, and the food I selected was tasty.

I HATE to write negative reviews but this place was so sad. I really tried to like the food. The taste is good but I'm guessing since a lot of people don't go they have the food just sitting there for long periods of time and the food just looks and tastes stale. Do NOT eat their Mongolian food. It was bad. Didn't taste like Mongolian food at all, it just had some weird taste.

Definitely not the best. Don't be fooled by the facade. When you walk into the dining area it looks very nice but the food is not up to par with the interior design. Dinner came to $25 bucks for two. Could have gone elsewhere and ate better Chinese for less. If you like coffee after a meal you will also be disappointed. Ordered a coffee and the lady gave me a cup of instant. The staff is not the friendliest either.

Easter day and I was hungry when I escaped from church. GF had the bright idea to come here since she has been waiting like forever for this place to open. So, we entered the glass doors and no one was waiting but there was 3 employees looking at each other and for about 2 min, not a word was spoken and then we asked the question, Do we pay now or later? Do we find our own seat or shall we be guided to our spot? Rudely, the young hostess answers and "NO YOU PAY LATER" and "COME WITH ME". She sat us but we never saw her nor another waiter again. Don't expect free refills either, they wont ask and they wont do it freely. Onto the food, Everything SUCKS!! Folks, it doesnt matter if they are not located in Downtown LA, Sherman Oaks, Burbank or whatever place you feel is great. Good food is GOOD FOOD. The only thing this place has going for them are the fries and the battered shrimp. Crab was undercooked, ribs overcooked, and everything else was tasteless. This place made us want to look for a more expensive place to eat just to take the bad taste out of our mouths... Should have gone to that great deal from OLIVE GARDEN.. deep sigh.

Don't eat here. The food is blah and you can tell its been sitting under a heat lamp. The customer service is beyond the worst I have EVER received.... From the reviews below other people seem to agree. Do yourself a favor and go eat at Panda Express for the same price and actual fresh food. I seriously hope I don't end up with food poisoning.

A friend of mine and I were driving around town looking for an Indian buffet for dinner to no avail so she told me of this place to try. Both of us had never been here before. I wasn't really hankering for Chinese but that was ok. At that point we wanted some good food that could fit in our budget. In my opinion this was pretty good for the price. I wonder why some people didn't like this place. They had a good selection of all kinds of food that you won't even see at a sit down Chinese or Asian restaurant. While the place isn't fancy or anything, the food is what I came for. The parking isn't that great but it was ok since we had a handicapped placard. Things I enjoyed were the hot and sour soup (always love it), the variety of chicken and shrimp dishes and the dessert tables. Pretty big buffet area I'd you ask me. My husband and I like going out sometimes so I will definitely be bringing him here. My friend liked it so much that she bought a take home package for her husband.

Had the lunch buf with my Mrs. $6.95? Crazy. But how was the food? Overall, delicious. For some strange reason they have pizza, fries, and fried chicken. These were all great, and the pizza put the pie at Soup Plantation to shame (not to mention some actual pizza shops!). The meat dishes were varied and very good, though the Kung Pow wasn't as spicy as I'd like. Rice and noodles. Good! Vegetables were wonderful (string beans, broccoli, mushrooms, yum). The one let down was the prepared fish. The stuffed shrimp was too bready, the cooked shrimp had not been cleaned (not that uncommon, but still), the scallops were chewy. The salmon, however, was quite nice. Back to the good: soups were very yummy as were the deserts. Never even got to the mongolian barbecue or the salad bar. So much more to try. Will definitely be back. Ignore the negative reviews. Try it for yourself.

I'm going to five star this piece. I wish I could give it six stars. First let me specify that I am not a big barrel ass or anything but I can eat. For $9.50 which includes a soda, I can eat a lot of good food in a great smelling clean establishment. I go there about once a week during the day Monday to Friday. I made the mistake of going there once on a Sunday afternoon and spent almost $30 for two of us. (I didn't read the price difference for weekends) But for $9.50 this place rocks. Its clean as hell too. Staff is constantly on the move cleaning up the "troughs." The coconut chicken, jalapeno chicken, perfect cheese wontons and DELICIOUS hot and sour soup are worth the admission alone. Let me tell you about their French fries (at a Chinese buffet??) They are comparable to the fries at Daglas Burgers. They are that good. They also have pepperoni pizza that is good. Chicken on a stick. Fried chicken. Fantastic popovers. They had sushi but have now removed it because it wasn't moving fast enough. They could have a bigger variety of desserts but they do have different little cakes, delicious rice pudding, almond cookies that are good, fruit, jello and soft serve ice cream. I wish they had toppings fort the ice cream but they don't. The young lady who seats you is very sweet and friendly. The kid who fills your drink is not that fast but I think he might be a little slow to begin with. I love this place and I hope it is around for a long time.

My friend and I went here a couple of weeks ago. The food and the customer service are horrible. One of the workers got rude with my friend. We talked to the manager. Instead of the manager correcting the employee, she tried to take up for her. She replied, "Oh, that's just the way she is." The food was subpar. I've been to quite a few Chinese restaurants and buffets. This is among the worst. I would never return to this place and I would not recommend it to anyone else. I hope that anyone who gives this place a positive review will explore other options for Chinese food.

Not good, not good at all, not even average. The salmon is white in color, the beef with broccoli is super salty, they serve crabs but not king crab legs its a crab the size of a tarantula spider. Get this place out your head don't even try it..........

Let's get this straight, before I dive into my review: it's a buffet, so don't expect tiny-restaurant-in-Sherman Oaks-quality food. So, my mom got the flyer in the mail, and the main reason why she was so desperate to go was because she wanted to beat out her boss to trying a new restaurant/buffet/fast food joint. Being the good daughter I am, I rolled my eyes when her back was turned - until I saw the price. $9.99 for dinner on a weekday? $10.99 for a weekend?! $1.69 for a drink with free refills? Bye Hometown! I'm down. Pros: - It's not China Olive. - The butterfly shrimp was, by far, some of the greatest I've ever had. Crispy, shrimpy, meaty - unf, how wonderful. It's like Hometown Buffet's shrimp, but not as salty. - There is a dish literally called, Chicken on a Stick. It is a huge slab of chicken on a tiny bamboo stick. Vegetarians, beware. - Speaking of vegetarians, take a bite of their egg rolls! Crisp and tasty. - Milky, melty chocolate ice cream. Too bad swirl and vanilla were out of order. - They had these adorable miniature apple pies. - Really decent service. The waitresses (what are they called?) are attentive and they pick up the plates/cups/whatever you choose to use fairly quickly after you get up to go pick up your next plate of bloated goodness. - Crabs, clams, and mussels, oh my! - There's tons of seating. No joke. There are at least 108 tables in there. And, if you're a small enough party, they almost automatically seat you in a booth. - Also, the best part - it was fairly quiet for a buffet! Although, that might have been in part to the fact that there were only about 50 people there. Neutral: - The pastries could be better, but could be worse. The sesame balls and peach buns were absolutely adorable. They were these tiny, cocktail party-sized balls of happiness. The chocolate/mocha cake roll and cream puff could use some work. Cons: - It's a Chinese buffet, so I hope you're not here to eat buffet pizza and fries. Bleck. - The waitresses - it seemed like an all-female staff to me - speak very broken English. - One of the plates I picked up still had a bit of gunk stuck to the rim! Ew. My very Chinese family gives this place four stars. For the price we were paying on a Wednesday evening, the food and service we got were absolutely fantastic.

I will say that they have not been in business very long. It is my hope they will get better. However, the $10.99 price we paid today was nowhere near inexpensive enough to make this a good value, much less a good meal. To be exact, there was nothing good about it at all. Many of the items were undercooked. Once we were sat, we never saw another employee at our table until we went to pay. When we were asked about our experience there, we told them that it wasn't a good one and we told them of the issues there were. Their reply was "sorry about that". Nothing else was said. I understand that they are just starting in this location but I would advise everyone to stay away until they are able to get a better handle on the whole correct food temperature thing. I'll pay the extra price and go to one of the other places in the area.

Stopped in here for dinner again today as it was way too hot to be cooking. Think hometown buffet, but chinese food. Good, unobtrusive service, ample selection including mongolian grill, seafood, soups and desserts. Plentiful but...bland. Not my first choice of chinese dining but adequate enough to bring me back. Recommendations? Hot apple pie, coconut chicken, and the soups.

This place makes Panda Express look gourmet. My mother-in-law wanted to try out the lunch today, apparently someone with no taste buds recommended this place to her . So i jumped on yelp to see if anyone reviewed it yet.... I noticed the price for lunch "seemed" like a good deal but I had a bad feeling about it. Parking sucks, we got lucky with street parking. Service was about the only thing I can't complain about. Now for the food....I can honestly say not 1 thing I tried tasted good...no wait I take that back the fresh pineapple and melon were probably the only thing that didn't make me want to barf! The food was soo disgustingly greasy, it all started to taste the same to me I couldn't distinguish different flavors. Fried rice was gross, orange chicken cold and gross! Chow mien greasy and gross. White fish yuck don't even try it! Even the egg drop soup was extremely salty and inedible. I felt myself sipping my dr.pepper after every bite just to get the food down! Please do yourself a favor and go to Chi's in Northridge it's not a buffet, but clearly it's not always about quantity over quality.

Best place to throw your money away! READ ON TO FIND OUT WHY? No one greets you, the menu are the waiting area states Adult $6.99 Lunch, $9.99 Dinner, Friday Dinner and Saturdays ans Sundays and Holidays $10.99 Children age 3-10 $0.60 per year, Dinner $0.90 per year, Friday Dinner and Saturdays ans Sundays and Holidays $1.00 per year You walk in and get a table waitress with an attitude asks if you want a drink. Then you proceed to go get your meal, with only 12 choices of food in total, rice, noodles, sea weed soup, beef, fish, mushrooms, broccoli, again what I just wrote repeated . Oh wait 18 with the 4 choices of dessert, two sorts of Jello and Dollar tree cookies and old nasty melon. You eat and you go pay you're a family of four, you expect $9.99x2+$0.60x2+$1.50x4+8.25tax Well SURPRISE! It's not $0.60 for the year it's per year of the child's age! so if your child is 10yrs old-it's $0.60 x10= $6.00 I mean it's still cheap BUT the way they did it they are tricking people, not fare. When I complained they gave me an attitude, like no tomorrow.

Her words"never again"........get new cooks who know what they are doing!!!!

First time I went I thought it was pretty good. Like the food but.......parking sucks!!! Take quarters for the parking meter. There is a parking lot in the back but half the spaces are free parking for other businesses & the other half of the parking is metered parking. They claim they are working on solving the parking situation.......not sure how they plan on doing that. Went back a second time, still liked the food ok but.......even though they've only been open about a month, one of the stalls in the women's restroom had a broken door. Door was actually not even connected to the stall. It was laying on the floor. The toilet in the handicapped stall would not flush so basically they only have one toilet you can use with any privacy. I was seated immediately & asked what I wanted to drink. Went to get a plate of food. Even though I was asked what i wanted to drink at the same time I was seated, I had to wait 15 minutes for the server to bring it to me. And the ENTIRE time I was in the restaurant, my server only spoke 4 words to me, "You need this fork?" Since it's a buffet I assumed that just like most buffets, I would get a new fork each time I got a new plate of food. But while I was sitting waiting a minute to get another plate of food, the server came to clear my plate from the table. She took the fork that I had placed on the plate, partially under a napkin, and held it up, while it was dripping sauce on the table from my coconut chicken asking if I did not need my fork. I asked if I had to use the same fork or if I would get a new fork each time. She said nothing and walked away, after which I wiped up the sauce she had dripped on the table. I went to get a couple more items from the buffet. When I came back she brought me another fork, soup spoon & napkin & placed it on the table & walked away again without saying anything. After I finished I went into the ladies restroom & saw the condition of the restroom. I went up to the front to pay my bill & asked to speak to the mgr or owner. I was advised they were not on the premises. I asked to speak to whoever is in charge. The cashier just looked at me as if she had no idea what I was talking about. I had to ask several times for the person in charge. Each time she either said, "They not here" or avoided the question. Finally she just responded by asking if I wanted to pay now. I paid my bill after which she said, "OK, thank you, have nice day." I said again I wanted to speak to someone in charge & did not move. She started texting someone & then walked away. I assumed to get someone for me to talk to. Came back with another employee but still neither one of them spoke to me. Then a server came & told me he was in charge. Knowing that was probably a load of bull I told him about all my complaints. The condition of the restroom, the fact that I had to wait so long for my beverage, the fact that the server basically never spoke to me, and the problem I had getting the hostess to get me someone to talk to. Don't know why I wasted my time since I know nothing will be done. Oh & by the way, prepare to dodge small children running around the restaurant when you go to & from the buffet with a full plate of food. This happened both times I went & neither the parents or the staff did or said anything about it. First time I thought maybe it was just a one time thing but apparently not.

Went on a Sunday , I was very impressed . The seating is very nice , new and it may look deceiving from outside , as it's a lot larger once you are inside. They had many stations and I was very impressed with their huge selection of food , and fruit/desserts . I really enjoyed my meal and will be back very soon.

Unbelievable selection for the price. I got here early for lunch and the selection was wonderful. And reasonable! This place is great for kids too being that they have kid options--chicken nuggets, pizza, etc. Overall, the Chinese food itself was great!

Well parking is scarce, 1 hr along the curb, for me that isn't enough time at a buffet. Parking in the back is metered, the meters look new and the guy was putting up the signs that explain the metered rate. It looks like the laundry mat next door owns/runs the parking. Inside, well $.90 per year of your child's age, when your kid is 9 it's almost full fare to eat jello, pizza and ice cream. Home Town buffet isn't looking so bad any more. The salmon was very bland and had lost the orange color. The Mongolian beef came out with many raw pieces of meat, also it was cooked with lots of oil so the who dish was oily and killed any natural flavors that the ingredients have. It wouldn't hurt for them to get some cilantro as well. The green tea which is free at other places is not here. Really funny about the credit card situation, the waitress gave me the check, I gave her AMEX then she came back saying do I have another card implying that my card was declined. After talking to her she charged my card then voided and wanted another credit card. That was bizarre and will check my statement to make sure all is on the up and up. Well going with the concept of saying something nice about the place. The chocolate pudding was tasty, and the lettuce salad wasn't bad but it could use more tomatoes, I really had to dive to get more then one slide of tomatoes. I hope the management staff visits some of the other well run Chinese buffets in the area and they pick up some tips.

We've been waiting for this place to open for a while. The restaurant is deceiving from the street. It appears small, but surprisingly quite spacious inside. Parking is available in the back as well curbside. Once we were seated, the drink orders were taken. For an early Friday evening dinner, I was shocked to find that they were out of regular coke..that was the first sign.. As the other 3 went for the buffet, I waited for the drinks to arrive. The waitress who brought them over, 3 waters, 1 diet cola, 1 lemonade.. carried it all.. and attempted to place them on the table. Didn't say a word.. spilt water on the table as she placed the glasses down, and just walked away.. leaving me to clean up her mess. The mongolian bbq had small bowls to place your stuff in (not working for me) The sauces, were separated, with the chicken and meat in between, so I didn't even see the options, until after I was left thinking I only had the minimal choice. I wanted rice noodles, but had no room in my bowl to add it after the veggies and meat. Thinking, "no big deal" I'll just get the rice noodles off the buffet, quickly realizing they had none on the buffet.. No sweet and sour sauce, nothing to really dip the egg rolls in, except ketchup..and hot sauce.. Fried rice was actually white rice, with peas and eggs in it. They also had steamed rice.. They were also out of vanilla ice cream.. again.. shocked for a friday evening. The desserts were plentiful, but nothing I enjoyed.. bland and dry. The food quality was ok. Nothing to write home about. I've had better at some fast food chinese places. I normally am extremely full at a buffet, this one left me wanting to stop somewhere on the way home to get dinner.. (I didn't). I might try them again in a few months.. to see if they've gotten better.. but maybe for lunch.. it's cheaper..

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
